Friday - Work at Food Bank and Then "Lupper" with Friends!

Ken was up and reading by 5:00.  I slept in till about 6:15, did my stretches, and then left for a bike ride around the CG.  I did 4 miles this morning and it was already hot!

We had oatmeal for breakfast, showered, and left for the Food Bank at Edgewater by 8:45.  We had very little bread and desserts today, but lots of fruits and veggies - a healthy week!  I thought we would be extremely busy since it was the 1st Friday of the month, but we only served 60 folks today.  Fortunately, we did get rid of almost all the perishable items.  After helping to clean-up, we got back to Wilbur around 1:15.

Ken rested while I worked on this blog and did my devotions.  We left to pick up Bill and Donna, friends we met camping in Florida several years ago who are from Pottsville, PA and spending 3 months here at Harbor Lakes.   We went to the Laishley Crab House in Punta Gorda for a late lunch which is right at the harbor walkway when you cross the Peace River into Punta Gorda!  What a great setting on the second floor overlooking the harbor and the marina!  The food was good and the prices extremely reasonable.

Indoors at the Crab House!

Great views on the outdoor deck where we ate!

After dinner the 4 of us strolled along the walkway checking out the eating places and gorgeous view of the Peace River.  We also walked around the Vietnam Memorial, which is a replica of the one in DC!  We returned to the CG by 6:15 after spending a wonderful time with Bill and Donna.  We really appreciated their company!

Our bellies are full so we enjoyed walking along the river
walkway!

A very inviting tiki restaurant complete with sand!

Walking toward the Vietnam Memorial!

The wall of the names of fallen soldiers!

This is the center of the Memorial!

John and Cindy had gone to the baseball stadium here in Port Charlotte to see the spring training game of the Phillies vs. the Tampa Bay Rays.  They are great fans of the Phillies during baseball season and were excited to go to today's game and even happier when the Phillies won!  They contacted us to lett us know they were just down the road from Harbor Lakes and asked if they could stop by.  So after the game they went for dinner and got to the CG around 6:45.  We sat inside Wilbur chatting and catching up on each other's activities since we were together on Monday.  They left at 8 to head back to LaBelle.  Ken and I walked to Ernie and Noela's campsite to talk because we hadn't seen them today.  We were back to Wilbur by 8:45.

I worked on this blog and Ken did the dishes.  By 9:45 we were in bed after another great day!  Life in Florida is so good and the weather today was fantastic.

Jamie called to let us know that Bria placed 15 out of 57 swimmers in the 50 meter backstroke at the Jr. Olympics tonight and had her best time ever in the freestyle 50 meter in her team's relay!  Amazing!
