Saturday - A Beach Day

Ken left for a walk with Ernie at 7:15 and at 7:30 Noela and I did a 5 mile bike ride around the CG.  It was a cooler morning with temperatures in the 50's, but sunny and clear.  We did have to "fight" a bit of a breeze during the ride, but it felt good to be "out and about"!

Ken and I enjoyed a breakfast "fit for a king"!  We had some filet mignon Ken had grilled and we didn't have a chance to eat, so we made omelettes with steak, grilled peppers and onions, eggs and cheese.  They were positively delicious!  After cleaning up, we began packing items to take to the beach including some snacks because we would be there through lunch.

We picked up Ernie and Noela at 10 and off to Manasota for a beach day!  It is about a 35 minute drive and it was around 70 degrees when we arrived.  We went to the lower end of Manasota Beach to try to duplicate last Monday when we estimate that the 6 of us (John and Cindy were there too) found about 3,000 sharks teeth!  It was an unbelievable day and we were hoping for another one.  Well, we didn't find as many today, but many more than usual and Noela found an amazing treasure - a huge shark's tooth and it was right on the beach when we were on our way back.

These are the shark's teeth just Ken and I found last Monday!

Deserted on the lower end of Manasota Beach!

Lots of piles of shells to "sift" through looking for teeth!

We arrived at Harbor Lakes at 3:45 and quickly went into Wilbur so Ken and I could see Bria swimming at the Junior Olympics at home.  It was being live streamed and we were able to see her swim the last leg of the team's relay.  They did a great job and we were so happy to be able to watch!

After showers, we relaxed until it was time to get ready to meet LCBC couples and friends at Farlow's on the Water for dinner at 7 to celebrate Lloyd and Deb having a week here in Florida.  The food there is definitely on the top of our list and the waiter was incredible.  While our group, mostly from LCBC back home, was celebrating and enjoying being together, Frank and Barb were celebrating with LCBC friends in PA their leaving the end of March to permanently move to their home in Florida.  So, we had to exchange some photos!

After a fun-filled evening, Ken and I were back to Wilbur by 9:45 and it was off to bed.  What an amazing day with special people!
